New Astra VXR Unveiled

These are the first official pics of the new Astra VXR – the fastest production Astra in Vauxhall’s history!

Fresh from Australia, it’s the brilliant new Vauxhall VXR8. The feature is in issue 123, but here are some preview shots.

There are currently only two VXR8s in the UK (that we know of) and both are on the Vauxhall press fleet. We were lucky enough to get behind the wheel of build number 0002. Click through to read more

Opel GTC concept: The shape of things to come for Astra VXR, Total Vauxhall has the story.

Here is the exciting new concept car unveiled at the Paris Motorshow. It’s clearly very close to what the forthcoming Astra SportHatch will look like, and that of course means a new VXR – which promises to be one of the most eagerly awaited cars of 2011. Details are a touch vague at the moment, but it’ll be front wheel drive, and powered by a 2-litre 16-valve turbocharged engine, with at least – we reckon – 270 bhp. Exciting times ahead, we can’t wait to get our hands on one!

We bought the Coupe at the start of last year and to be honest, it was in a sorry state. Since then, virtually everything on the car has changed. The concept of the car is to embrace the exciting new technology that the VXR era has brought with it, while paying tribute to some of the brash, exciting magazine project cars we grew up reading about as lads.
