VAUXHALL CARS IN VIDEO GAMES – UPDATE!!
OK, so we’ve STILL not actually managed to get any screen shots of the Vauxhalls we said we would. No matter, Alex sent us this message and link:
‘A game called Touring Car Racer, which was released in 1991 features a Vauxhall
Cavalier GSi (the one raced in that year’s BTCC I guess).
The game was crap as I recall, but there’s some screenshots of it to prove
the Vauxhall’s inclusion here:

Holy crap! A Cavalier GSi! This has to be one of the earliest occurances of a Vauxhall in a videogame. If you follow the link you’ll see Alex has actually reviewed the game for the classicamiga website. Apparently it’s awful (the game, not the site – the site is well cool), which is a shame as the Amiga had a couple of decent racing games. Anyone remember Crazy Cars III? Awesome game. Got the SNES version which is called ‘Lamborghini American Challenge’ but it’s not the same. Anyway, there’s no Vauxhalls in that, so back to the subject matter, dreadful or not.
We HAVE to play this. Now then, how do those Amiga emulators work again…
Check the opening screen! How good does this look? A bright pink Cavalier on full lock!!!!
If you’re wondering why there’s a massive gap, it’s because the design of this blog forces everything into a narrow column. Ideal if you have an 8 inch wide monitor, presumably.

It gets better, with a brilliantly rendered profile shot of Cleland/Allam’s ’91 vintage racer!

Ah bugger. The Cavalier is on the left. Think that might be a Primera on the right. We still want to play it though.

Check out the website www.classicamiga.com for a first class nostalgia fest!!
